Harbor Freight Sawmill .....set up & first impressions

The Harbor freight Sawmill is probably the cheapest mill money can buy, but is it worth it? How complicated is it to set up and does it cut well? Is it build with heavy duty use in mind or is it junk? Like all things sold at Harbor Freight, there is always the question, " is it worth the money", or "should I spend a little more and get an item from a name brand that I "know" will be quality. Here are my thoughts on this sawmill. Dave Whipple

The predator motor is a Chinese clone of the Honda motor.

We have had this mill for a while, it does the job. Wish it had longer track but we can fix that. I did weld the track joint when I built it. First thing built was a roof over it, that is really important. That engine is a wonder. We can leave it for a few months, come back and it starts on the first pull most times. Good tip on the water jug, we will try that.

Lot of side tension on the shaft bearing off the engine not got . Needs to be a little looser .

A sawmill isn’t the kind of thing I’d trust Harbor Freight to produce. Basic hand tools - yes. But not something of this complexity. You get what you pay for.

Very informative. It’s no woodmizer but it got the job done ✅. The biggest caveat is moving the logs around into position.
