In this video I show how the old timers use to treat/protect fence posts from rotting. They would reuse or as we say today re-purpose old motor oil.

Can I use "used oil" and diesel?
@jimh2061
Very good information! What is the mix ratio of diesel to motor oil? I'm guessing 50/50.
@BS25999
Old engine oil every time.
@joshespiritu8074
Thanks for the info, I'm going to keep all this in mind when I make my first fence in a couple days
@chonrodriguezjr8510
Can it be painted on later?!!
@robertschroeder1978
Good video, will be using this method this year with a few Cattle Panel Greenhouses going up. Thank you... (From: Michigan)

We used to put them in a barrel and then fill with diesel, used motor oil and this stuff called Pentachlorophenol. Let them soak for at least 3 days.

Are your post still holding up, and thanks for the video Pete.
@january2568
You do this for pretreated post also?
@nobody7232
If you have a lot of posts to fence a field for example, you can stand then in a barrel of old motor oil for a week.. That'll add a few years to the post bases..
@thur1042
You're right. Oil and asphalt does not contaminate the ground. Maybe a large spill would get into the ground water, but just like you said a little bit of oil will get eaten by bacteria.

What the hell is “ash fault”😂
